Here are two definitions of peace of mind that I will use today : (1) the absence of mental stress or anxiety, (2) Peace of mind is a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace and in sync with our emotions. It is to have enough knowledge and understanding to keep ourselves calm in the face of discord and stress. How great it would be to stay calm, focused and undisturbed!! Instead of getting anxious and fearful, we can choose to stay emotionally and mentally poised and unshaken.

peace of mind can be attained and enjoyed right here and now, even while leading a normal, ordinary life, with a job and family.

Peace of mind sharpens the five senses, calms down the mind and the emotions, and enables you to focus more easily on mental and physical activities.

“The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.”
– James Allen

This list, about the benefits of peace of mind, can be extended even further. This skill makes us more mindful, improves our focus, improves our meditation and enables us to understand and learn everything faster.

Identify our areas of challenge. If something is preventing us from achieving peace of mind, it’s a good idea to figure out what it is. That way, you can make a game plan for overcoming these obstacles and reaching a peaceful state. Try these simple steps daily:

Meditation brings peace for mind

Meditation is one of the best techniques to conquer negative vibes and attain the peace of mind. If we practice it consistently it will turn miracles for us. It has been an age-old technique to calm our mind. It’s an effective remedy to deal with the stresses of daily life. It increases our awareness about our inner self. It reduces the turbulence of mind and gives it a pause to attain its basic nature of calmness.

Deep Breathing

One powerful technique is mindful breathing/slow deep breathing. It has proven biological effects on body and it help to reduce the level of anxiety, increases the happiness and resilience resulting in improved peace of mind. It’s a controlled breathing exercise with specific posture and you exhale for longer time than inhale time. Include it in your morning rituals.

Mindfulness for peace of mind

Many people generally live in past or worry about future. The past has bygone and no one has seen the future. Past is history, future is mystery and only thing which we have is Present. That’s why we call it “Present (gift)” Forget the past or future leave and focus on the present moment. Practice mindfulness in day to day life. There is no need to evoke unpleasant memories or future worries and get submerged in them.

Work on relations for peace of mind

Relations always give happiness and work as support system in your tough times. Work on our relations. If we have strained relationships with parents or loved ones, try to repair these connections so that we can more fully accept ourselves and your life. Enhance our interpersonal skills and have more patience and tolerance  with parents, family, friends, professional contacts and everyone else.

Be grateful in life. Being grateful for what we have in life is a great way to develop peace of mind. Gratitude helps us to see positive aspects of problems and challenges. Maintain a Grateful Diary. Write down every day for what all we are thankful on a particular day. Review that diary every Sunday and you will find god has given us so many relations, things and incidents to be grateful. It increases our satisfaction level and we experience peace of mind.

Forgive and Forget to have peace in the mind

Don’t hold grudges. Holding grudge is like letting someone live rent-free in your head. Learn to forget and forgive. Nurturing ill feelings and grievances hurts us. If we carry the baggage of revenge and bad memories, gradually and consistently it snips peace of our mind.
